Budding coders are invited to apply for scholarships worth £7,200 to train in high-end software development skills.

Two scholarships are available. One is the Tech Scholarship – which is open to everyone who wants to get into the software development industry. The other is a specialist Women in Tech Scholarship.

The two successful students will be offered the chance to train on the Master: Coding course at The Digital Academy, a joint training partnership powered by Code Nation and Cambridge Regional College.

The full-time course starts on October 21 and lasts for 12 weeks. Students will have the chance to grow from complete novices to business-ready Junior Developers, including learning how to create iPhone apps.

Deadline for scholarship applications is Sunday October 13.

The scholarships are open to anyone interested in learning to code, or with a passion to secure a career within the tech sector.

Mark Robertson, Principal and Chief Executive at Cambridge Regional College, said: “We are delighted to host specialist digital courses and to now offer a scholarship on The Digital Academy’s ‘Master Coding’ course.

“We want to help as many people interested in the tech sector to gain as much knowledge as possible – and in turn provide the tech industry with graduates educated in exactly the digital requirements they need to help their business thrive and succeed in such competitive times.

“We are aware of the rapid requirement for digital skills. There’s a huge appetite regionally for professional coding qualifications, which continues to increase as a result of the continued growth in the area.

“We have worked with Code Nation over the past 12 months and have been hugely impressed with their expertise, ethos and outstanding results. We believe that together we are now making headway to address the skills gaps in our region to meet employer needs.”

Andy Lord, CEO of Code Nation, said: “We are delighted to be working with Cambridge Regional College to bring our joint offering to the region and surrounding areas.

“We know there’s an acute shortage of skills in the region and our unique style of learning and range of courses has been recognised by business as a solution to creating work ready, employable talent, quickly.

“The two scholarships will offer the successful candidates a great opportunity to turn their passion for tech into a career in the industry.”

The ‘Master: Coding’ course does not require any pre-course or experience to enrol, and the students will be provided with the technology they will use for the duration of the course. The Digital Academy is open to a wide range of students from college leavers and university graduates, to those looking for a career change, employees looking to re-skill or digital practitioners wanting to up-skill and progress their career. The objective is to create employable, work ready talent in digital. The Digital Academy embraces passion for the industry and those with a desire to succeed in a career in tech.
