Cambridge Triathlon Club seeks volunteer marshals

Could you spare a few hours to support a local junior triathlon event at Impington Village College on Sunday June 25th? Volunteers are sought to help with marshalling.

Graham Kellen, Marshal coordinator, explains:

The Rob McLean Junior Triathlon on Sunday June 25th is a very important event for the Cambridge Triathlon Club, for Cambridge and the British Triathlon association as it is a regional qualifier.

I have had a good response to date but I still need many more volunteers to help the race run smoothly, because we don’t have anywhere near enough at the moment.

Two key reasons to help are:

  • Our race is one of the Inter-Regional Qualifying races, which means winners are selected from this race to represent the Eastern Region, so we need all the help we can get to keep the designation, make the event fun for all and to maintain our high quality.
  • The races we run have a huge financial benefit to the club, and we cannot run them without volunteers. New members should not feel intimidated as most duties will involve watching kids race around, or helping at the BBQ or possibly even counting laps.

If anyone knows someone that has food hygiene certificate experience that would be great as we are running our own BBQ this year.

I have been involved for several years now and it is really rewarding to have the chance to give some support to the hard working coaches, help the club and cheer the kids on.

If you are able to help the Club this year, please email Graham here.
