Cambridgeshire Freemasons support Cam Sight

Cam Sight ended its Centenary Celebrations on a high note in December with A Festival of Carols at Ely Cathedral, supported by the Cambridgeshire Freemasons and organised by Ely Cathedral.

The Cambridgeshire Freemasons have been supporting this highly successful bi-annual event, which benefits a chosen local charity, since 2006.

Over 1,000 people attended an evening of festive music, poetry and prose and over £34,000 was raised to be divided equally between Cam Sight and the Ely Cathedral Trust.

Net month (Tuesday 5th March), Chief Executive of Cam Sight, Anne Streather will be presented with a cheque for £17,417.58 by the Provincial Grand Master of Cambridgeshire Freemasons, Rodney Wolverson at the Cambridge Masonic Hall.

The proceeds will be put towards the Cam Sight Centenary Appeal which was launched in 2012 to raise £500,000 to develop an Information Technology Centre for visually impaired people at the Charity’s office in Chesterton.  The Centre will provide information, training and support in a wide variety of Information Technology designed to assist users with sight loss.

Fundraiser Sally Nott said, ‘The Festival of Carols was a truly spectacular end to our Centenary Year and we are extremely grateful for the support of both the Cambridgeshire Freemasons and Ely Cathedral.  This magnificent sum has brought our appeal total to over £200,000 which is very encouraging’.

Cam Sight currently supports over 2,000 people in the region with visual impairment and aims to enable those with sight loss to lead independent and fulfilled lives.
