Cambs Police flood warning after rain

Cambridgeshire Police are helping to evacuate some homes in the Alconbury area.

Alconbury is one of two villages in the county subject to severe flood warnings. The other is Kimbolton and police say some properties there are in imminent danger of flooding. Homes affected are in the Thrapston Road and London Road areas of the village.

Properties in the nearby village of Stonely are also at risk this morning.

Police also say the A1307 Linton by-pass is now effectively closed because of flood water. The Environment Agency has also issued lower grade 'flood warnings' for the River Nene on the B1040 between Thorney and Whittlesey and for the River Great Ouse at Earith and Welney. The lowest grade 'flood watch' warnings are in place on most rivers across the region.
