Capital trust is fully invested

British Smaller Technology Companies, the 14 million venture capital trust advised by Generics Group at Harston, is now fully invested, and a new 10 million fund is being launched.

Phil Cammerman of Yorkshire Fund Managers, the trust's investment advisers, said: 'Demand from potential investee companies has been strong.

'All our investments are in core technologies and have been vetted by Generics -- there are no dotcoms in our portfolio.'

He added that the portfolio had, during the six months to June 30, maintained its value, which he said was a creditable performance in the current environment.

'During the same period the techMARK All-Share index fell by 27 per cent.'

With many people still keen to invest, Yorkshire wants to launch the new fund.

Investments to date include Digital Healthcare, Amino Communications, Imerge and Syngenics, all in Cambridge, plus Jetmask in Royston and a number of other private companies dotted around the country.
