Construction of Milton Hall as a private residence began in 1772 and was ultimately completed in 1794 remaining in the family of the builder, Samuel Knight, until the 1930s. An internal refurbishment took place in 2013 and now the Grade II listed building is home to companies including Apprilis, DLA Town Planning and Paul Basham Associates. Tenants are attracted to the convenient location which is well served by all major transport options as well as the peaceful setting within beautiful, landscaped gardens which provide plenty of seating for relaxed meetings or space to take time out during the day.
Community feel
The environment lends itself to creating a real sense of community amongst the tenants as the story behind how DLA Town Planning came to be at the Hall perfectly illustrates.
A meeting between the teams of Tereyn Architects and DLA Town Planning at a networking event led to collaborating on projects and a subsequent recommendation to take space at Milton Hall.
DLA Town Planning Managing Director Mike Lake says: "Elliot of Tereyn Architects introduced us to Milton Hall as he knew we were looking for offices in the Cambridge area. Tanya and her team made us feel so welcome that we chose to open our third office here. This has meant we have been able to grow our business in Cambridge and made it easier to connect with Elliot and other consultants from Milton Hall and beyond.”
Milton Hall may no longer be a private residence, but it still houses a sense of togetherness with what David Newbigging, the Managing Director of Apprilis describes as ‘a distinct feel’.
It’s professional without being rigid, and there’s an ease to the way people interact. The community is engaged and approachable, which naturally creates opportunities to connect, share ideas, and build relationships.”
Paul Basham Associates – a multi-disciplinary transport planning, civil and structural engineering consultancy – chose Milton Hall as its Eastern region base after being attracted to the combination of ‘high-quality facilities and professional support services’. Office Mangager Vicki Preston says the collective of welcoming businesses has helped the team thrive. She said:
There’s a good sense of community with an atmosphere of collaboration and support among tenants, making it far more than just office space. It is a place where businesses can build relationships, share ideas, and feel part of something larger.”
Convenient location
As Milton Hall is outside of Cambridge city centre tenants can avoid associated traffic delays and being close to a variety of transport links is certainly convenient when teams live in different areas.
Iain Stevens, Director, Airey Miller said: “When looking for a base in the Cambridge area it was important to us to be located near the A14 to enable the office to be accessible from the M1, A1 and M11. With parking readily available Milton Hall ticked all boxes. Rail links to London are also good which was an important factor.”
If you’d like to be part of this community there are currently some available units at Milton Hall ideal for teams of between two and ten people. Contact Tanya Price if you’re looking for a new base for your business on 07551 171811 or email [email protected]
