DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe) has today announced that Mark Johnston has been appointed Chief Network Operations Officer, where he will be responsible for the delivery and operation of the pan-European GÉANT network and its services.

He succeeds Marian Garcia-Vidondo, who leaves DANTE after 13 years to pursue other opportunities.
Mark joins with over 20 years of telecommunications experience in managing operational teams to design, plan, build and operate network infrastructure and network-centric services. He was previously leading the 500Gbps GÉANT Network Migration Project, on a consultant basis with DANTE.

Mark has an Electrical and Electronic engineering undergraduate degree and a Masters in Business Administration.
