Located in the grounds of Brookfields Hospital, on Mill Road, The Edge Cafe is much more than a place to grab a Panini or feast on a full English. It’s a warm, friendly space where people recovering from addiction can gain support.
Set up two years ago, after funding was granted to launch a recovery hub in Cambridge, The Edge is run by Sarah Dickinson, and her dedicated team. Having experienced her own battle with addiction – Sarah is a recovering alcoholic, four years sober – she recognises the importance of a community to anchor people in recovery.
With a background in catering, having managed renowned Notting Hill Gate restaurant Sally Clarke’s, before working at indie café Abantu in Bourn, Sarah is passionate about creating tasty dishes from scratch. Her menu is packed with crowd-pleasers such as hearty breakfast baps, homemade quiche and superfood salads, while her homemade bakes include divine chocolate brownies, vegan carrot cake and gluten-free orange cake.
Ardent about tackling food waste, the cafe houses a Community Fridge, and Sarah creates daily specials, using surplus ingredients provided by the charity FareShare.
On top of this, there’s regular workshops, pop-up evenings, and outside catering. It’s no wonder there’s such a buzz about The Edge.
