'This tour gave us a great opportunity to present our capabilities to an influential audience wider than our traditional client base,' commented Dr Colin Smithers, managing director of , which was visited by the group yesterday.
Following last summer's visit by US influencers, also organised by the Cambridge Network, the focus this time has been on top European 'influencers.' Among the visiting party are: Steve Marquardt, head of European technology at Merrill Lynch; John Reynolds, head of the DTI Future Unit; & Simon Caulkin of the Observer Business Section & Management Today.
In all, there are five people from the high-tech investment community on the trip plus two senior DTI officials, industry analysts from DataQuest & IDC, and three journalists: all of them senior people and each a major 'influencer'.
The party is meeting representatives from ten Cambridge companies. The tour continues today (Thursday).
