A positive attitude is essential as a recruitment consultant because while you may face setbacks and stumbles, you will still have other candidates on your books that are relying on you to find them their next dream job and clients that are looking at you to resolve their recruitment needs.
Getting a Career in Recruitment
If you have decided that a career in recruitment would be the right career for you then first you need to decide which field or industry you would like to work in and then boost your skills and knowledge in this area wherever possible; then look for recruitment agencies that recruit for your chosen field and contact those companies for a meeting so you can discuss working for them.
You then need to develop a plan of how you will meet prospective client companies and then corresponding candidates; this may mean using connections from previous job roles or going out there and networking online or in person to meet new potential clients and candidates. Watch and learn from colleagues, don’t be afraid to ask questions and put their advice into action.
As you gain new candidates that are looking for work, take the time to organise a talent pool of these candidates using a database and include as much information as possible because when you meet more and more candidates they will start to blue into one. Make sure you gain references for your candidates so you know you are placing reliable candidates with your clients.
