Cambridge law firm Hewitsons is delighted to announce that Karen Luxton-Walsh has qualified as a solicitor.

Karen (pictured) joined the firm in September 2019 and works in both the planning and environment team, as well as the residential property team, at the company’s Cambridge office.

Karen has been offering a ‘business as normal’ service to clients, whilst working remotely during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Originally from New Zealand, Karen gained over 15 years’ experience as an environmental engineer prior to pursuing a career in the law. Her previous experience included a wide range of planning and environmental work focused on assessing and balancing the impacts of development.

Karen also has four years’ experience in non-contentious property matters.

Karen studied environmental engineering in New Zealand and read law through the University of London’s international programmes, before completing the legal practice course at De Montfort with distinction.

Clare Martin, head of residential property at Hewitsons, said: “We at Hewitsons are pleased for Karen, who is proving to be a valuable asset in our team with her pragmatic and direct approach, which her clients love. We wish her a long and happy career with the firm.  We also thank her for her dedication, along with everyone else at Hewitsons, who continue to focus on our commitment to ‘Absolute Client Focus’, albeit in different surroundings, at present.

“We look forward to being able to formally celebrate with Karen, in person, in the future.”

Commenting on her qualification, Karen said: “This is a significant milestone and I am proud to be qualifying in two highly effective and talented teams.  I am looking forward to continuing to work with our clients through these unusual times.”
