Speech recognition expert Vocalis has formed a partnership with America's largest radio station owner, Clear Channel.
Houston calls for Vocalis
Vocalis's SpeechMail -- e-mail by phone service -- will now be promoted and sold by Clear Channel's seven radio stations in Houston, Texas.
Mike Williams, director of business development at Vocalis, said: 'This marks a milestone in our industry in terms of strategic agreements -- Vocalis is the first voice recognition company to develop solid, sales-based partnerships with media companies.'
He said the agreement allows Vocalis's products to help e-mail users access e-mail 'anytime, anywhere, anyplace'.
'As typical commute times increase to more than one hour, SpecialMail provides a way to access e-mail while on the move for the business person, traveller or busy family.'
Shelford-based Vocalis opened its US headquarters in Houston in May. The company builds a range of voice activated telephony products for customers all over the world.
Clear Channel Communications is a global leader in the out-of-home advertising industry with radio and television stations and outdoor displays in 40 countries around the world.
