IGC wishes for awards success
IGC Limited, the Cambridge-based Recruitment Consultants, has been announced as finalists in two of the region's most prestigious business awards, the results of which will be announced shortly.
IGC has earned itself a place as a finalist in the 'Growth & Expansion' category of the Business Weekly/East of England Business Awards 2001 after successfully demonstrating to judges how the recruitment consultancy has progressed over the last 12 months in terms of increased turnover, employees and business development.
The awards are being judged by some of the most influential figures in the region's business community, including Herman Hauser, hi-tech entrepreneur and VC specialist; Tudor Brown, top executive of ARM holdings; Chris Mellor, head of Anglian Water Group; Mike Baunton, president of Perkins Engines; James Gray, CEO of Invest East of England; Michael Marshall, chairman and chief executive of Marshall of Cambridge; Antony Ross, director of 3i Cambridge and John Lee, head of Odyssey Ventures. The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony at the University Arms Hotel, Cambridge on Tuesday 26 February 2002.
The consultancy has also been nominated as one of four finalists in the 'Small Business of the Year' category - companies with no more than 40 employees that have made an impression in terms of innovation, service and marketing - of the Cambridge Evening News Business Excellence Awards 2001.
Despite not being listed in the initial nominations, IGC was voted for by its clients and candidates, which has ensured the consultancy a secure place on the final shortlist. The awards will be presented to the winners at King's College, Cambridge on Thursday 21 March 2002.
In just two years, IGC has grown from eight to 25 employees, increased its turnover by 780% and has expanded into 3,320 sq ft of office space. Founded in 1994 by Annie Norman and Tim Halket, IGC specialises in Technology, Life Sciences and Sales & Marketing recruitment.
Tim Halket, Co-founder and joint MD says: "We (IGC) have enjoyed considerable growth over the last two years, and we fully intend to keep it up. We are very proud to have got into the finals of both of the awards and are keeping our fingers crossed. The most important thing for us though is to have got this far and to have been recognised amongst Cambridge's business elite."
