Well worth the trip out from town, The Linton Kitchen offers city-dwellers and locals alike, a little slice of something special. Set in the chocolate-box High Street of rural Linton in a former butcher’s shop, The Kitchen (owned by Gemma Whiting), stocks a wide range of local produce from independent suppliers and producers – using these to create daily sandwiches, lunch specials and scrumptious cakes, topped off with a cup of Cambridge’s finest Hot Numbers coffee. Open seven days a week, The Kitchen also has a great selection of lovely foodie gifts.
Not far from Gemma, in the same street, is another fantastic independent – The Flower Boutique. Belgian owner, Leen Van den Eede, started her career working as an apprentice at a floral event company based in the famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.
Armed with invaluable training and an ever-growing love for flowers, she moved to the UK, and realised her dream of opening her own shop in 2007. The Flower Boutique is a haven of floral beauty. Leen’s signature style is seasonal, natural and elegant – using only the freshest flowers and foliage shipped directly from the flower markets in Holland.
