Julia Willcock is a neuro development therapist who specialises in learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD. She also helps people of all ages with auditory processing problems, either as a result of an illness/ stroke or typically from a history of glue ear as a young child.
Julia Willcock has joined Salus Wellness Clinics this month
Julia qualified at the Institute for Neuro-Physiological Psychology (INPP) in 2015 and uses the INPP Method for diagnosing symptoms of neuro developmental delay (NDD) through a multitude of tests for eye to hand coordination, balance and the presence of primitive and postural reflexes. Children with NDD problems can display symptoms such as an inability to follow instructions, literacy issues, struggling to dress themselves, over-sensitivity to noise or touch, motion sickness and hyperactivity.
After assessing your child, Julia will write a report for you and demonstrate the daily physical exercises you need to start doing with your child. Neural plasticity enables new pathways to form, giving the brain a second chance to create improved functionality. Children discover greater concentration, an improved performance in their writing tasks, better coordination and a growing self-confidence in their own abilities.
Julia has also offered the Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulation Programme since 2017. If you suspect your child (or your partner!) has problems with listening and doesn’t pay attention, yet their hearing ability is within the normal range, it may be a sign that they have difficulty with processing and making sense of sound. Julia sends the audiometric test results through to the Johansen specialists who will create music compositions suited for stimulating their particular auditory profile. Daily listening through headphones and regular reviews help improve their auditory processing functionality.

In addition, Julia offers kinesiology which is useful for dealing with your physical aches and pains, as well as the more emotional or anxiety based issues. She qualified as a kinesiologist with a Diploma of Professional Kinesiology Practice in 2006 from Nature Care College, the specialist complementary health college in Sydney.
A kinesiology treatment is different to many manual therapies because talking is an integral part of the healing process. Kinesiology was developed in the 1970s by chiropractors who were fascinated by the emotional releases when fixing points of structural pain. The outcome of their research created a new technique which heavily borrowed from Chinese medicine’s understanding of the meridian networks and the ancient healing methods of many nations. The body responds to testing positions and verbal statements with a simple muscle stress response; but that’s where the simplicity ends. A complex picture of past injuries, emotions and events is revealed and Julia is guided by your body’s responses to deliver the chosen treatment.
