A Korean church will be able to further serve its congregation following the granting of a sponsorship licence for overseas workers.

The Cambridge Yeolim Church promotes the Christian faith as well as providing training, nurturing and activities for children and young people. It also provides pastoral care and supports missionary work.

The church needed Korean speakers and has been granted a sponsorship licence in order to sponsor a much needed Minister of Religion, following help with its application from Cambridge law firm Stone King.

Mr Jung from the Cambridge Yeolim Church said: “We are delighted that our sponsorship licence has been granted. This means that native Korean speakers will be able to work with our congregation and help us continue our important work of promoting the Christian faith to people in and around the city. We are so pleased to welcome a new Minister of Religion to our team to help in our work in Cambridge”

Julie Moktadir (pictured), Stone King’s Head of Immigration, said sponsorship licences were vital in helping religious communities reach their members.

“In recent months we have helped a number of faith organisations achieve sponsorship licenses and this is hugely important for them in helping them achieve their objectives,” she said.

“The Government has recognised the importance of allowing churches and other faith organisations to recruit from overseas and so we were able to help with licence applications via the Minister of Religion and Religious Worker route.

“It means these organisations can grow and thrive with the recruitment of new workers and the diversity that brings.”
