Manet aims to beat BT and ntl

Cambridge's new telecoms operator is named after a well-loved French Impressionist -- Manet Telecom was launched at Cambridge Network's Christmas Open Meeting last week at Robinson College.

With promises of a cheaper and faster service, Manet intends to provide serious competition for BT and ntl by providing service within 28 days -- thus halving waiting time -- and is looking to sign up its first customers around mid-February.

Marketing manager Sharon King said the company will be working with the business community in Cambridge, and hoping to roll out in Northampton next year.

Manet Telecom -- whose managing director Maureen Donnelly is indeed a fan of the French painter, also takes its name from 'Municipal Access Network.'

Mrs Donnelly presented an overview of the company's products and services at the launch.

'I am delighted to be launching Manet Telecom in Cambridge and delivering state of the art technologies to businesses quickly, effectively and competitively. We are offering a high level of service and dedicated local account management,' she said.
