MP supports bright future for independent shops

It will be beams all round as Daniel Zeichner MP tries his hand at making his very own lampshade as part of Cambridge Independents’ Week this Friday 5 July at 11am at The Cambridge Fabric Company, 7 Peas Hill, Cambridge, CB2 3PP.

Organised by Cambridge BID, Cambridge Independents' Week helps independent shops, bars and restaurants across the city to shine.

Mr Zeichner will meet shop manager Katie who will teach him how to create a professional 30cm drum rolled edge lampshade using one of the brightly coloured fabrics the store sells.

The Cambridge Fabric Company is holding a series of workshops during Independents Week to encourage people to visit the store.

Daniel Zeichner MP said: “Everyone knows High Streets are struggling at the moment which is one reason I’m so pleased to back Cambridge Independents Week this year. Cambridge has a huge array of distinctive, unique and quirky stores. This week is a great reason to try something new and pop in and support our local retailers.”

Businesses taking part in the week are displaying bunting and posters and a full list can be found at: https://www.cambridgebid.co.uk/independents-week-2019
