New training programme helps DPOs become certified

IT Governance’s new training programme will give inexperienced DPOs (data protection officers), and those with DPO career aspirations, the expertise they need to become certified to help organisations comply with the EU’s GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

The C-DPO Masterclass training course and C-DPO Upgrade training course are now available to book in London, Birmingham and Manchester, with other locations soon to be added. Those who book before the end of August will receive a 50% introductory discount.

Nearly three months on from May’s deadline, GDPR compliance remains an ongoing issue for many organisations. Appointing a DPO who has the proper level of expertise and qualifications is one of the most demanding requirements outlined by the Regulation.

IT Governance’s training programme consists of the following three options:

  • Inexperienced DPOs who have passed the IT Governance GDPR Foundation training course can attend the four-day Certified Data Protection Officer (C-DPO) Masterclass Training Course before sitting a comprehensive exam.
  • DPOs who have passed the GDPR Foundation and Practitioner training courses can attend the two-day Certified Data Protection Officer (C-DPO) Upgrade Training Course before sitting the exam.
  • DPOs with two years’ experience can skip the training and simply sit the exam.

If the exam is passed, the DPO will be certified by IBITGQ for up to three years (depending on which course they enrol), with the option of renewing their certification thereafter. The DPO must demonstrate at least one year of further DPO experience to be able to recertify as well as a set level of CPD learning hours.
