The #LOCKJAM half term school disco banner

Cambridge musician Andrea Cockerton writes:

Right. Parents - you need a break. Kids - you need to party.

We have the answer! It's a *LIVE* half term school disco for under 9s to party their socks off to. Interactive chat. Shout outs. Very cool music. (Curated by 7 year old Lily).

£6 per house ticket. 4.30pm today Thursday 28 May.

A *LIVE* band will be performing tracks by bands you love, like Justin Timberlake, Panic! At The Disco, Pharrell Williams, WALK THE MOON, Katy Perry, George Ezra, Shakira & more....

Who's behind it? #LOCKJAM. We're keeping live music alive while in #lockdown. 100% of profits will go towards helping freelance musicians & sound crews out of work due to covid-19, the band get paid work, parents get time off, kids get thoroughly entertained. What's not to love?!!!!

Tickets are available here and you can follow us at www.facebook.com/thelockjam.

Here's all that you need to know:

  • for the best sound stream the audio through good headphones or bluetooth speaker or connect it your TV!
  • for the best interactive experience use either a tablet/iPad or computer so that you can chat on the interactive chat - phones don't work.

Think a live band, in your living room, and you're pretty much there.  I'll be joined by both the #LOCKJAM house bands.... Joe Malone and Paul Richards on drums, Gav Sirisena on bass, Adam Chinery  and Will Pears Cooper on  guitar and Joe Shaw on sax and vocals....  performing a full-on set that will keep your children entertained for an hour.... BLISS.

About LOCKJAM - every Wednesday evening (and this Saturday 30 May) - 9pm in your living room, kitchen, dining room...wherever you like...

As you all know, so many people in the music industry have lost their work, and there isn't much help available to them.  #LOCKJAM is all about musicians at grassroots level creating music to help those musicians and sound crews that have also lost some or all of their income.  The band & team involved will all be paid - assuming we sell enough tickets! - as every one one of them has lost all or some of their work... it's been a tough time.... and we'll also of course be paying PRS to support the bands we're covering.

But here's the thing: over and above that, 100% of profits will be going to be going to The Dosoco Foundation, a tried and trusted grants provider who will give that money directly and carefully to help as many musicians and sound crews... and possibly even venues.... in need as possible.  This is the heart of #LOCKJAM....

...hence we're charging, £6 per show
