PEM is delighted to welcome 20 new trainee professionals who are joining the firm this week to begin their accountancy career journey.
The intake includes both A-level school leavers and graduates, who will work across PEM's Accounts, Audit, Tax and Virtual Finance Office (VFO) teams. Alongside supporting clients and gaining practical experience, the trainees will undertake professional study programmes over the next three to five years as they work towards achieving their professional qualifications.
The new cohort represents an important milestone for both the trainees and the firm, reflecting PEM's ongoing commitment to investing in future talent through its early careers programmes.
PEM works closely with sixth form colleges across Cambridgeshire and universities throughout the UK to attract and develop the next generation of professionals. The firm is proud that so many aspiring accountants have chosen to begin their careers at PEM.
Warren Tilbury, CEO at PEM, said: “Having joined PEM as a school leaver myself, and trained and qualified with the firm, I understand first-hand the opportunities that a trainee programme can create. As CEO, I have been proud to help shape PEM’s strategy through a period of significant growth and change.”
“What sets PEM apart, and why I believe it is such a brilliant team to be part of, is our culture of support, growth and opportunity. We place trust in our people, encouraging them to take responsibility for client work early in their careers, which helps accelerate their development. At PEM, you are encouraged to grow, take ownership and make a real impact. We are delighted to welcome our newest trainees and look forward to supporting them as they build their careers with us.”
PEM's trainee programme combines professional qualifications with hands-on client work, supported by a comprehensive learning and development framework. Trainees benefit from dedicated pastoral support, tailored career pathways, paid study and exam leave, and ongoing professional development from their first day with the firm.
This structured approach enables trainees to make a meaningful contribution to clients while developing the technical, commercial and personal skills needed for a successful career in accountancy.
Nicole Knight, Learning & Development Manager at PEM, added: "We have a great training programme, which we are very proud of. It provides pastoral support, individual career pathways, paid study and exam leave, with dedicated learning and development from day one. Working with our clients gives trainees valuable real-world experience, helping them to understand their challenges, anticipate their needs and develop their technical and commercial skills, both for our clients and as colleagues within PEM."
"I know we will all be on hand to offer support and advice whenever needed and to give them a very warm welcome to PEM. I wish each one of them the very best as they begin this exciting next step."
PEM is always keen to hear from ambitious individuals interested in pursuing a career with the firm. Anyone interested in future trainee opportunities is encouraged to contact the People team at [email protected]. Prospective applicants may be particularly interested to learn that PEM will welcome an additional trainee intake in January 2027.
