Plans for Cambridge cinema go ahead

Entertainment giants Warner Village Cinemas have finally lost their bid to block the building of a new cinema complex in Cambridge.

Warners, who run a complex in the city's Grafton shopping centre, have been told that there are no further steps they can take.

The Court of Appeal has refused to allow them to challenge a High Court ruling giving the city council the all clear for the proposed leisure development at the Cattle Market.

As well as a 1,700 seat cinema, the complex will include a bowling alley, fitness centre, restaurants, a hotel and housing.

Warners went to court alleging the council had not given proper consideration to putting leisure facilities on sites closer to the city. The city council now hopes that the development can go ahead without any further delay.
