Record number of jobseekers benefit from Cambridge Networks Jobs & Careers Fair

There were over 400 candidate signups for the latest Cambridge Network Jobs & Careers Fair, February event. Now in its seventh year, the Cambridge Network designed this event to support jobseekers in their job search and career development.

The event showcased an array of presentations, highlighting hundreds of live vacancies on offer across the exhibiting companies, with headline sponsor – Illumina, as well as Sartorius, BIOS Health Ltd, Zyme Communications, Dr Reddy's & Secure Thingz all presenting their current vacancies and company culture. There was a vast selection of jobs on offer, including Scientific roles, PR & Marketing, Software Engineer, Scrum Master, Finance, Scientist, DevOps Engineer, Logistics to name a few!

Candidates that attended, were at all career levels from Director to Graduate, highlighting a real mix of attendees at different stages of their career.

In addition to the varied selection of roles on offer, the Network were very lucky to have Kate Atkin - Speaker & Facilitator and imposter syndrome expert, giving an interesting insight into imposter syndrome and how to manage self-doubt when job seeking. Kate highlighted that self-doubt is normal, and though it can prevent people recognising their knowledge, skills and capabilities, Kate offered practical ways to manage those self-doubt feelings.

Tom Froggatt - Founder and MD at Singular Talent, also ran an interview and CV tips workshop entitled "take control of your career". It was an interactive session with tips on how to talk about gaps in CV's, planning your jobs search, how to make your applications stand out, and how to nail the interview.

Claire Angus, Head of Recruitment Gateway at Cambridge Network said “This event saw the first of our Cambridge Network virtual jobs and careers fairs of 2022. Thank you to the team at Illumina who were headline sponsors. We were thrilled with sign-ups, these reached over 400 on the day. There was plenty of engagement between job seekers and exhibitors, the timings ran over at one point as we worked through the Q&A! The careers workshops were fantastic, special thanks to Tom Froggatt from Singular Talent and Kate Atkin, for sharing job seeking tips and motivational insight”

Sara Dietz, Staff Technical Application Scientist at Illumina, the headline sponsor said ‘It was great to see applicant’s interest in real time and be able to answer their questions’

If you missed the event, you can catch up with all the presentations on Cambridge Network's YouTube channel here
