Shrugging off worries over euro

12-08-2002

A Gallic shrug says it all, according to Cambridge Europe and Technology Club, whose guest speaker at this year's annual garden party was Prof Paul Bouc of the Sorbonne.

The professor talked about how smoothly the introduction of the euro had been in France.

A hundred members and guests attended the party, held in the grounds of Jesus College.

Valerie Dring MBE, of NatWest presented a cheque for 1,000, double the bank's normal sponsorship, in recognition of the club's 10th anniversary.
