Snow Fair launches the Cambridge 200 Club

23-03-2005

The Cambridge 200 Club, which has just been launched, is an important arm of the overall fundraising campaign of Snow Fair 2005, an event created to raise awareness and funds directly for the Paediatric Neurology Unit and Child Development Centre at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.

Donations of 200 can make a real difference to the lives of many families who use the unit on a weekly basis and will collectively contribute c. 40 % of the Snow Fair's overall target of 100,000. Countryside Properties plc, Photo Sound Imaging, Integrated Building Services and Camstead Homes have already joined us as major sponsors.

We are hoping that at least 200 Cambridge companies will donate 200 each to help the campaign. There will be few of us whose lives have not been touched by Addenbrooke's Hospital. It is very much at the heart of the Cambridge community and is a renowned centre of excellence in health care and medical research throughout East Anglia and the UK.

Two hundred pounds we hope will be within the grasp of most companies. All donations will be recognised in our souvenir brochure, promotional literature and the local media. Companies will have the further benefit of knowing that they are helping the hospital of both their work force and many of their clients and customers.

Snow Fair 2005 (previously known as the Chilford Hall Christmas Fair) will take place on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th November at Chilford Hall, near Linton. A team of volunteers devote their spare time to organising the Snow Fair event itself (a gala evening and shopping extravaganza), masterminding the extensive fundraising effort and managing the related campaigns.

The funds raised will be used to construct an extension to the Paediatric Neurology Unit and Child Development Centre and make possible the construction of a garden with disabled access and a wheelchair swing. We are being asked to raise funds for facilities that would otherwise be beyond the unit's reach. Babies, children and young people from all over East Anglia are being treated in the same unit and amenities that were adequate 20 years ago are now overburdened and stretched to capacity.

The Snow Fair Committee hopes to have 200 local companies donate 200 each. Given the huge number of people that Addenbrooke's serve we consider that 200 companies is both representative of the number of people in the area who benefit directly from Addenbrooke's and also representative of the wealth of industry and services in the region. Moreover, 200 is a realistic and manageable amount for most companies to consider.

The Snow Fair Committee are delighted to participate in enabling this change at Addenbrooke's and the Child Development Centre and are looking forward to other companies, organizations, groups and individuals joining them in making the dream a reality.
