On Wednesday 17 June Dan Harris, head of the firm’s International & Cross-Border team, is running a session on the topic of cross-border legacies, and in particular foreign inheritance tax for UK charities.

He said: “Using real case studies we will explore not only what can be done to avoid and mitigate foreign tax, but also how it is sometimes possible to retrospectively reclaim foreign taxes.”

On the same day Tim Rutherford, head of the firm’s Charity & Social Enterprise Sector Group will co-host a webinar aimed at almshouse charities alongside Elizabeth Fathi, Director of Almshouses at The Trust Partnership. The free, hour-long session will cover ‘post-lockdown risk assessments and moving on’, including legal guidance and practical tips.

On Thursday 18 June, the charity law specialists are running a free webinar on managing finances during COVID-19 for charities and social enterprises, and considerations when facing serious financial challenges. Co-hosted with RSM, the session will cover a range of legal topics, such as change of trustees’ responsibilities, communication with stakeholders and using restricted funds or reserves, with finance topics including cashflow management, mitigating risk and potential liabilities in insolvency situations.

This webinar will be hosted by Tamsin Eastwood, Partner in Stone King’s Corporate & Commercial team, Stephen Ravenscroft, Partner in the firm’s Charity & Social Enterprise team, and Karen Spears, Director in Restructuring Advisory at RSM.
