SyndicateRoom heads to London for Amazon Growing Business Awards 2016

SyndicateRoom, the online equity investing platform company based in Cambridge, has been nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the 18th annual Amazon Growing Business Awards, which takes place at The Brewery in London this Wednesday (November 30th).

The local business is up against Stratejet and Student Cribs from London as well as Big Cars from Essex for the accolade.

Cambridge-based SyndicateRoom was nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year award following a stellar year in which the business launched new products to help investors get involved with start-ups at an earlier stage, from SEIS rounds through to Initial Public Offers and share placings. A brand new service, The Watchlist, launched in 2016 helps members identify and invest in growth stage small cap listed companies that are currently underserved by the market. In three years The Syndicate Room has helped raise £60 million having worked with over 80 companies and now employs almost 30 full-time staff.

Speaking ahead of the prestigious event, SyndicateRoom co-founder and CTO, Tom Britton (pictured right with Goncalo de Vasconcelos, left; Co-founder, CEO,  and Tom Hinton, Head of Capital Markets)  said: “To be shortlisted for an award of this magnitude is a fantastic achievement for the business and we’re really looking forward to the big event on November 30th. The Amazon Growing Business Awards is the ultimate recognition for any entrepreneur or small business in the UK and we’re really proud to be shortlisted alongside some fantastic business minds.”

“It is a real pleasure to be part of celebrating the hard work and ingenuity of Britain’s small business community through the Amazon Growing Business Awards” added Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager at Amazon. “There was great competition to make it onto the shortlist in each category, and I want to congratulate all the successful entrepreneurs who are building growing businesses, creating jobs, increasing Britain’s exports and constantly innovating. I wish them all the best of luck on the awards night.”

Created by Real Business, sponsored by Amazon and supported by the CBI, the Amazon Growing Business Awards is the UK’s most established and respected recognition of small-to-medium-enterprise (SME) and entrepreneurial success.

Since its launch in 1999, the Amazon Growing Business Awards has celebrated exceptional businesses and outstanding entrepreneurs. Previous winners include Innocent Drinks, Betfair, Lovefilm and Fever-Tree, while VIP guests to have graced the ceremony include Bill Gates, Gordon Brown and Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

Category winners will be presented with an award and benefit from the publicity, media promotion and brand exposure associated with the event.

All Amazon Growing Business Awards winners receive automatic membership of the CBI, the UK's premier business lobbying organisation, providing a voice for employers at a national and international level.

All UK-based high-growth and entrepreneurial companies, regardless of size or stage of operations, may enter the awards.
