Runners across the region will be able to take advantage of the latest developments in sports science thanks to a series of TRAIN SMART seminars being held at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.
Talks can help runners reach their personal best
The seminars are being run by Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences in collaboration with Advance Performance, the award-winning running and triathlon store based in Cambridge and Peterborough.
TRAIN SMART kicks off on Wednesday, 30 January (6pm) with “Getting fit for the summer” and future seminars during 2019 will cover topics including how to make your training interesting, how to avoid burn-out, and the best ways to prepare for your next marathon or half marathon.
Dr Justin Roberts, Principal Lecturer in Sport & Exercise Sciences at Anglia Ruskin, said: “The TRAIN SMART seminars are a great opportunity to discover how contemporary science can help support you in your own health and fitness endeavours, whether that’s starting out, training for your first event or trying to obtain a personal best.
“The seminars will run quarterly, each with a different theme, discussing various ideas around how to improve your exercise and training, including nutrition, motivational and technology-based tips. Each seminar will comprise several short talks from our consultancy team, followed by an open Q&A discussion.”
Cambridge Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences is working with Advance Performance to support and showcase Anglia Ruskin’s Performance and Exercise Testing Consultancy, which was launched earlier this year.
Samantha Hale, Managing Director of Advance Performance, said: “Whether it be getting fit for the summer, through to training for your first marathon, these seminars promise to be a wonderful opportunity to come and discuss your ideas and ask any questions you may have around your training.”
Each seminar costs £5 and the series begins on 30 January at Anglia Ruskin’s Young Street campus. To book a place, visit https://store.anglia.ac.uk/ and search “TRAIN SMART”.
