Millennium Pharma has turned the first turf for its new 23 million European headquarters at Granta Park.
Work begins on HQ
The drug discovery firm, currently based in Rosemary Lane, began life as Cambridge Combinatorial, founded by the Marchington brothers from Oxford Molecular Group.
The premises were opened three years ago by DNA discoverer Prof James Watson, who used the occasion to condemn the patenting of genes identified from the human genome project.
Two years ago the firm changed its name to Cambridge Discovery Chemistry then sold itself to US pharmacy giant Millennium last July for 35 million.
