, the Cambridge-based based high technology marketing agency, has been chosen by Cambridge United F.
YTKO to spearhead Cambridge U's marketing
C.'s management to devise plans aimed at taking the local side into the 21st Century.
Better known for its strategic and tactical marketing campaigns for world-class client companies such as Dell and Prudential, YTKO is set to boost Cambridge United's 'fans and funds'.
Mr Peter White, Chairman of YTKO, has drawn up a simple three point Marketing Plan for the Club that was recently promoted to the Second Division:
1. More of the same
2. Increase catchment area for fans
3. Develop innovative revenue generators
'Keeping faith with Cambridge U's committed fans is very important,' says Mr White, ' but so is finding additional support from outside the Cambridge area and funding for the new stadium due to be built in 2000.'
One of the startling aspects of the YTKO plan is the use of Virtual Reality to stimulate support from existing Internet users and fans around the Globe. Television rights to Second Division games are owned by Sky, but Mr White has devised a way to watch and even participate in games if you can't see the real thing.
He is setting up a dedicated project team to harness local high technology to create 'Virtual Reality Matches' over the World Wide Web.
'If we can do it, it will be a first for Cambridge. No other club has thought of it,' he said. 'We are currently approaching the Region's leading innovators in the high tech sector for their time and their technology.'
The first meeting of Cambridge technologists is scheduled to take place at YTKO's premises in Portugal Place in the next few days.
