Cognidox launches cloud-based XtraNet customer portal solution

A new cloud-based portal from Cognidox provides the world's first “extranet-as-a-service” capabilities to organisations wanting to offer secure document access to customers.

Cognidox Ltd, a leading provider of product document management software, announced today the launch of XtraNet, a product that enables marketing, operations and product management personnel to provide flexible web portals for customers/partners/suppliers without requiring assistance from busy IT departments.

Using Cognidox’s intuitive software, sophisticated customer portals can be set up in a secure private cloud for publishing and managing outbound documents in different formats, (video, software files, artwork, etc.). Access to content is controlled by the company’s proven licensing engine, already deployed by organisations in the high tech, med tech and clean tech markets.

XtraNet is a virtual private cloud (VPC) offering. Each instance is a single-tenanted instance separate from any other. All uploaded and/or downloaded data is encrypted with 2048-bit SSL technology and each domain-validated certificate uses unique keys for each customer. Further security is added through user authentication, watermarking and audit trail logs to ensure data protection complies with the most stringent legislation or standards.

It provides SaaS / Cloud benefits such as rapid setup, no capital expenditure on hardware, and only paying for capacity as-needed.

Apart from creating extranet services for customers and partners, XtraNet can also be used to create secure virtual data spaces for suppliers, investors, legal contracts, M&A due diligence, board members and a secure compliance document portal for industry regulators.

The solution comprises two key elements, a customer-facing interface and an administrator interface. The customer-facing web portal re-uses branding from a company’s public website and a URL based on their domain name to reinforce corporate messaging. The back-office interface enables system administrators to approve and license documents for publication.

The XtraNet licensing engine allows maximum control over content publication, visibility and entitlement. If a company only wants to show certain content to customers based in Asia, or to customers with a current Premium account, for example, this is possible because licenses determine what external users see on the portal.

The administrator interface can be deployed in a cloud environment or installed onsite on existing servers. The latter is an option for any company obliged to keep data internal for regulatory or governance reasons.

XtraNet is a global solution and can be hosted from one or more of nine data centres across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, depending on target markets and demographics.

XtraNet is available as a purpose-built or a pre-packaged solution. Pricing for the pre-packaged solutions starts from £99 / $149 per month.

There are no file size restrictions and no limitations on the number of licenses; the only constraint is the storage limit. There are no limits on the number of external customers or suppliers who can be given login accounts. However, the number of internal administrators (who manage documents) is limited to a maximum of 10 users.

XtraNet is currently available as a free 30 day trial.  Follow this link to our website or contact Cognidox on +44 1223 911080 to find out more.
