With Cheffins Fine Art February Antiques and Interiors sale fast approaching, John Foster, newest member of its team, features in this month's blog! John joined the team six months ago. You may recognise him from your Sunday evenings when he appears in your front room as a regular expert on the BBC Antiques Roadshow.

John’s love of antiques started from an early age whilst diving on wrecks on the Florida Keys – his interest in discovering hidden treasures continues…John has been delving into the Cheffins emporium, picking out some favourites from the February Antiques and Interiors sale.

 What’s your favourite find this Month at Cheffins?

  I found this Tranter 44 cal percussion revolver on Tuesday at our weekly valuation day…it’s going to be entered in our Militaria sale in April.”

What have been your favourite finds during your career? 

 I valued a Charles II stumpwork casket which still holds the world record for a piece of stumpwork, selling at £127,000!

 I opened thirty bank vault boxes..the earliest hadn’t been opened since 1897! The contents sold for £1.7 million…”
