EcoMachines Incubator holds first Investment Pitch Day in Cambridge

At EcoMachines Incubator's first Investment Pitch Day for cleantech entrepreneurs in Cambridge, EcoMachines’ CEO Ilian Iliev explained how Lean Startup principles can accelerate the growth of energy and cleantech startups..

The event last month included one-on-one sessions with the 20+ startups that were selected to present.

Ilian Iliev, CEO of EcoMachines Incubator, explained how Lean Startup principles can transform the early-stage funding model for hardware and engineering companies in the energy and cleantech industries, with reference to EcoMachines' first investments. This was followed by one-on-one sessions with the management teams of the attending companies, which included technologies from solar energy, carbon capture, energy efficiency, innovative lighting, and innovative building fields.

Hugh Parnell, Chairman of Cambridge Cleantech, noted: "As the home of Cambridge University, many leading scientific research centers and global technology companies, Cambridge is one of Europe's leading clusters of  high-tech startups. EcoMachines' Accelerator programme can help Cambridge-based advanced engineering startups accelerate their international growth, and connect to corporate and investor networks they wouldn't have access to otherwise.“

Ilian Iliev, CEO of EcoMachines Incubator said that "Cambridge is an important part of our ecosystem, and we were delighted to have the opportunity to meet some of Cambridge's most exciting startups. Our Investment Pitch Days are key to our investment selection process, as it provides us with the opportunity learn in person about the team behind each startup, and its strengths and challenges. Entrepreneurs also get the opportunity to ask hard questions about how EcoMachines' innovative Accelerator programme adds value beyond the financial investment.“

EcoMachines Incubator holds Investment Pitch events throughout the year, both in the UK and internationally. The Cambridge Investment Pitch day was organised with the help of Cambridge Cleantech, a leading membership and business support organisation for a community of partners – including private companies, universities and public sector organisations – that is driving the development of Europe’s fastest growing cleantech cluster.  The next EcoMachines Investment Pitch day in Cambridge will be held in the 1st half of 2014, with details to be announced by Cambridge Cleantech.
