Free Rein - beaten by a short head

The Free Rein team was beaten by a short head at this year’s Anglian Business Awards by local seed and plant breeders Thompson and Morgan.

The awards had one of their highest entry levels in recent years with over 100 entries, indicating that the business community in the East of England is still vibrant and innovative in spite of the economic difficulties.

Free Rein team were joined on their table by their friends who made for a very enjoyable and sociable evening.  However, it was carriages at midnight and back in harness as usual at 8am.

Talking about the awards, Tony Addison said “It has been a good first experience for Free Rein, we have never thought about entering awards before, but given the positive response we have had from our customers  and our business partners, I think we will be giving it another go next year. It is also nice for the team to see all their hard work recognised by people outside of Free Rein.

"It wasn’t all socialising, with so many Free Rein clients and partners also either shortlisted or sponsors, plus a host of other potential customers. It was a great networking opportunity, and we ended the evening with at least a dozen leads to follow-up; including three companies interested in the Virtual Events System to help with product launches/ conference/ partners events later in 2012.

"Free Rein would like to congratulate Thompson and Morgan for their success in the Innovation category of the Anglian Business Awards, and we look forward to giving them a run for their money next year."
