CambridgeIC partners with MEV for sales growth in Europe

CambridgeIC, developer of the first commercially available single chip solution for resonant inductive position sensing, has signed a distribution agreement with MEV to support sales growth in continental Europe.

MEV is a distributor of electronic components and systems experienced at bringing innovative products to market.  Sales and support is provided throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Eastern Europe, Belgium and the Netherlands.

David Ely, founder and Director of CambridgeIC, comments "we were attracted to MEV by their team's strength and experience in the embedded motion control market.  Our products solve a specific need for precise, robust and cost effective position feedback inside machines. This need appears across a broad range of industries, and our partnership with MEV will help us identify and service customers across those industries."

Guido Gandolfo, product line manager for CambridgeIC and Motion Control expert at MEV, says: "Due to the innovative Cambridge IC technology, it is possible to use non-contact absolute encoders at a price that can hardly be reached when using optical incremental encoders. Thus, absolute value measurements can now be integrated in applications where sensors have not been used so far for financial reasons."

About CambridgeIC

CambridgeIC develops integrated circuits for sensing the precise position of moving parts in machines. Specialising in resonant inductive position sensing, the team has been leading the development of this technology for over 16 years.  CambridgeIC's CTU chips such as the CAM204 detect the position of up to 4 axes without contact, using position sensors built using conventional PCB processes.  CambridgeIC's large and growing library of standard sensor designs includes linear and rotary sensors in a variety of sizes and accuracy grades.  Traditional position sensing technologies such as optical encoders, LVDTs and potentiometers require specialist skills and processes for their manufacture and require housings for protection and alignment.  By making sensors from PCBs to CambridgeIC's designs, customers can build sensors as part of their existing production process and embed them deeply into their product design.
