Minister for Skills visits Marshall of Cambridge

Matthew Hancock MP, Member of Parliament for West Suffolk and Minister for Skills, recently visited Marshall of Cambridge to be updated on the work the company is undertaking and to be briefed particularly on its many and varied training initiatives. During his visit the Minister met a number of apprentices, graduate trainees and students at the Marshall AeroAcademy.

The Minister said, “The great work being conducted by Marshall in the area of training is impressive and is a great example of how the most successful training programmes can be run."

Sir Michael Marshall, Chairman of Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings) Ltd said, “It was a great pleasure to welcome the Minister to Marshall of Cambridge and provide him with details of our training programmes, which we have conducted on a continuous basis for over 100 years.  Marshall began training apprentices in 1921 and there has not been a year during which we have not had an intake of, or had, apprentices on our books.

Matt Hancock is pictured with David Firth, a second year Marshall Aerospace & Defence Group apprentice, who in his spare time helps out with No 104 (City of Squadron) of the Training Corps and recently won the Silver Award as the runner up at the recent National Engineering Employers Federation Manufacturing Awards for 2012.
