New transport strategy drafted to improve getting around

Cambridgeshire County Council is consulting on plans to improve transport in Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire until 2031.

With 44,000 new jobs and 33,000 new homes planned, the council needs feedback on their new draft strategy to get transport back on track. They are particularly keen to hear from local employers to help staff get to work more easily.

The new strategy prioritises travel by public transport, bike and on foot. The plans for Cambridge include promoting bus routes that connect key economic hubs, persuading more people to car share and additional cycle parking. In South Cambridgeshire the plans include, ensuring public transport is available for travelling to Cambridge, linking villages with public transport and joining up cycle networks.

Exhibitions are taking place with detailed plans and opportunities to discuss the strategy with council staff at the following locations:

  • 4 September, 2.30pm to 7.30pm – Gamlingay,  Eco Hub, Stocks Lane
  • 5 September, 2.30pm to 7.30pm - Histon and Impington Recreation Ground
  • 6 September, 2.30pm to 7.30pm - Cambridge Brown’s Fields Youth & Community Centre, Green End Road
  • 7 September, 11am to 5pm - Cambridge Bharat Bhavan, Mill Road (Old Library)
  • 9 September, 2.30pm to 7.30pm - Melbourn All Saints Community Hall
  • 10 September, 2.30pm to 7.30pm - Swavesey Village College
