Pre-war motoring chic up for auction

A 1934 Lagonda 16/80 Special Six in British Racing Green is being auctioned on 19th October 2013 by Cambridge auctioneers Cheffins, with an auction estimate of £55,000 - £60,000 for this pre-war example of motoring chic.

A two seat roadster with 'dickie' seat to the rear, it has a fine red upholstered interior, a good array of instruments including the Bonniksen Time & Speed Meter and has been owned by the same family for 30 years.

Fully restored, it has been serviced regularly, well maintained and is said to be a pleasure to drive.

Based on the chassis of their previous model, the 2 litre 4 cylinder Continental, this 16/80 was equipped with a Crossley supplied 2 litre overhead valve straight six which was reworked by Lagonda to their own specification. The 16/80 was named after its 16hp rating and 80mph top speed and could be ordered with 4 speed manual or pre-selector gearbox.  It is fitted with a handsome badge bar, spot lights and stone guards to the headlights.
