CfEL’s Enterprise Tuesday bridges academia, innovation and entrepreneurship

Lord Sainsbury, Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, joined Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge; Dr Hermann Hauser, serial entrepreneur and investor; and Dr Andy Richards, biotech entrepreneur and investor, at CfEL's Enterprise Tuesday launch this week.

It was standing room only as the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL) launched the new series of Enterprise Tuesday at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering this week.

A capacity crowd of around 400 people packed the auditorium to hear Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, MA, PhD, FRS, FRCP, FmedSci, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge; Dr Hermann Hauser CBE FREng, serial entrepreneur and investor and co-founder Amadeus Capital; and Dr Andy Richards, biotech entrepreneur and investor, talk about when and how entrepreneurs can spot opportunities.

An historic photo captured this illustrious group who have collectively made an enormous contribution to the Cambridge entrepreneurial ecosystem bridging the worlds of academia, innovation and entrepreneurship. Standing with an engraved glass panel specially commissioned to mark the Centre’s 10th anniversary, they were joined by Lord Sainsbury, Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.

The next session on 12th November at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering features Professor Sabine Bahn, PhD, Director, The Cambridge Centre for Neuropsychiatric Research and Dr Shaun Fitzgerald, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Breathing Buildings. They’ll be talking about the implications of mindsets and motivations on the management team and the business as a whole. This includes looking at how a team forms the skills to complement their vision and tackle the appropriateness of business models; dealing with regulatory challenges, managing sales to large corporates and other bureaucracies; and more generally how to manage teams of very bright people.
