Cambridge Cleantech develops Supply Chain Club for retrofit of buildings

Cambridge Cleantech has developed a Supply Chain Club for retrofits of buildings with Action On Energy, Cambridgeshire's new Green Deal and ECO provider.

The Councils of Cambridgeshire have just launched a new county-wide initiative, Action on Energy Cambridgeshire, a three-year ECO and Green Deal project.  Working in partnership with Climate Energy, the UK’s leading Energy Efficiency Company, the scheme is designed to help residents drive down their bills by helping them make energy efficiency improvements to their home.

The measures available will include a wide range of improvements such as cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and heating improvements.

Cambridge Cleantech, working with Action on Energy Cambridgeshire, will promote local economic growth by helping to ensure that the majority of work coming from the scheme will be delivered by locally based businesses, as well as creating new jobs in the county. The scheme’s delivery will incorporate work with local suppliers, trades people and installers, providing training opportunities to involve and up-skill local businesses and employees, facilitating their involvement with Green Deal and ECO.

Martin Garratt, CEO of Cambridge Cleantech comments “working with Climate Energy, we will organise events around specific contract opportunities for innovative local suppliers and installers and make them aware of the business and training opportunities as part of the programme. This really is a win-win for local homeowners and businesses alike.”

Minister for Energy and Climate Change, Greg Barker, says: “It is more important than ever to ensure that homes and business are energy efficient, helping to save on bills and reduce energy waste.

“The Cambridgeshire Green Deal partnership promises to tackle many of the energy challenges that local residents and businesses face across Cambridgeshire, bringing real benefits including new jobs, skills training, and helping local communities take control of their energy use.”
