Six months after it started offering meeting facilities at its new Riverside development, Granta Park has become the hub of the local bio science community for workshops, meetings and networking events.

Explains Granta Park Marketing and Asset Manager Roz Bird: “In the middle of last year we decided to set up a meeting facility within the Riverside development to enable companies on the Park and, high-tech networking groups and event organisers the opportunity to network and collaborate. Since then it’s proved a great draw for all types of events.”

ERBI has already been a regular user of the facility for a variety of events. Says Marketing Director Barnaby Perks: “It’s worked really well for us. We’ve got a lot of members based at Granta Park and we’re always looking for venues. It’s in a good location, with great parking and security and is all set up with AV facilities. We’ve held everything from whole day workshops to evening networking events there and all have been very well received.

ERBI has held events for between 40 and 90 people at Granta Park. Its next event is a workshop on Human Tissue Solutions for New Medicines and Companion Diagnostics on 18 March.

Granta Park company Pfizer has also taken advantage of the facilities. It held a successful Scientific Poster event in November in conjunction with MedImmune and will a meeting of the Society for Medicines Research on Regenerative Medicine: A New Frontier for Therapeutic Intervention on 11 March. Says Business Administrator Marie Compain : “We don’t have our own facilities so this is great for us.”

Breakfast networking meetings have also been held in the suite. Organiser Gerrit van Deventer regularly hosts around 30 local small and medium sized businesses and aims to arrange meetings for more sector and industry focussed groups reaching out as far as Bishop’s Stortford, Bury St Edmunds and Royston.

The facilities have been set up within Granta Park’s new Riverside development, which has R&D/Office units to let from 2,650 to 68,000 sq ft. The meeting facilities include seating for 60 people and audio visual equipment including projector, screen, speakers and microphone.
