Tame your computer - get clever with calendars

02-09-2014

In her regular series for Cambridge Network members, software training expert Karen Roem offers handy tips to help you 'Tame your computer'. This week she describes how to view multiple calendars at the same time (Outlook 2007 onwards)...

Since Outlook 2007, you can view multiple calendars at once. (Not sure why you would want to, but you can display up to 30 calendars.) The default setup is that the additional calendar opens next to the calendar that is already displayed, viewing the calendars side-by-side. But you can also see the calendars stacked on top of each other or in their own horizontal line, which can be useful when you try to schedule a meeting.

Here’s how:

2.       Open the Calendar. (Remember CTRL+2?)

3.       In the Navigation Pane, select the check box(es) of the calendar(s) that you want to view.

4.       On the Calendar tab click the left arrow next to the name of the additional calendar. (When you hover over the arrow, the tooltip reads View in Overlay Mode.) OR

5.       (In Outlook 2010) Click on the Schedule View button on the View tab to show the selected calendars in a horizontal layout.

When you no longer want to view the additional calendar(s), simply clear the check box(es) in the Navigation Pane. Alternatively, click the arrow next to the name of the extra calendar to View in Side-By-Side Mode.
