Connecting Cambridgeshire offers training and skills contract opportunity

Connecting Cambridgeshire has won extra Government funding to encourage women-led businesses, female entrepreneurs and young women to make the most of digital and technology opportunities. This contract is to provide digital skills and technology training in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The Destination Digital Women programme provides an opportunity for women-led businesses and potential female entrepreneurs to take advantage of faster broadband to expand or set-up new businesses, including home-based. Funded by the Government Equalities Office’s Women and Broadband Challenge Fund, it supports actions to encourage women’s enterprise in areas where Superfast Broadband is being deployed.

This contract is to provide digital skills and technology training in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s existing network of community access points, library learning centres and/or other suitable locations to be proposed by the supplier which:

  1. Deliver training and networking opportunities for female small office-home office (SOHO) workers who often work alone. This should include advice and guidance on how to set up a home office, use cloud services and other enabling technologies.
  2. Deliver training, which should include topics such as: digital marketing, using social media for business, curating your digital footprint, keeping safe on-line, building a web site and using web analytics, among other topics, to improve women-led businesses’ digital skills.
  3. Support women returners, delivering events designed to raise the IT confidence of women returning to work after a career break –‘Patching your IT skills and flexible working’.
  4. Support women returners wanting to work flexibly from home in a small office-home office environment –‘Patching your IT skills and flexible working’.
  • Minimum of twelve events across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough targeting women-led businesses and tart-ups.
  • Minimum of six events across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough targeting women returning to work after a career break.
  • Minimum of 300 women taking part in the series of events across the geographical area by the end of March 2015.
  • Contract value £20,000 to £25,000.
