Miss England takes the ice bucket challenge at Addenbrooke’s

The reigning Miss England 2014, Carina Tyrrell, completed the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ at Addenbrooke's Hospital today to raise awareness of motor neurone disease.

“I shadowed Dr Allen in the MND clinic at Addenbrooke’s and I am very much aware of the symptoms of this debilitating neurodegenerative disease how it affects patients’ lifestyles. The more support for this incurable disease that can be given the better.”

After taking the challenge Carina, a student doctor at Addenbrooke's, said: “That was refreshing!"

Simon Crooke, Cambridgeshire fundraising coordinator for MND Association, who lost his wife to MND, said: “It's fantastic that Miss England has taken the challenge and done it so well."

Cambridgeshire MND Association supports 68 people with motor neurone disease.
