It’s official: CUH is one of the best places to work in the UK

Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) has won two prestigious awards.

The Trust is featured in the nationally recognised HSJ list of the top healthcare places to work. At the same time the Trust’s HR department has won the Macro Apprenticeship Employer of the Year 2014 for the Central Eastern Region.

Anne Saucier from the HR department said “This is such a great achievement for us and we’re really proud of the whole team. This, and our win in 2012, again demonstrates CUH’s commitment to supporting young people into employment.”

The Trust beat Whitbread, owner of Premier Inn and Costa Coffee amongst other brands, in the regional final. The Trust now goes into the national final, with the decision expected on 13th November.

The HSJ award celebrates the 100 best employers in the NHS. The list is made using staff survey findings to analyse each organisation across seven core areas: leadership and planning; corporate culture and communications; role satisfaction; work environment; relationship with supervisor; training and development; and employee engagement and satisfaction.

Associate Director of Organisational Development, Oonagh Monkhouse said: “It is fantastic news  that the Trust has been named one of the top healthcare employers in the UK. Our staff will already know this and it is because of their compassion and commitment that the Trust has some of the best patient outcomes in the world.  The fact that we are attracting nurses and other staff to come and work here from across the globe is testament to great facilities and support we offer.  The highly qualified people that work here have many career development paths as well as an unrivalled opportunity to be involved at the cutting edge of medical research.”
