Praxis Unico events help drive academic-industry partnerships

Praxis Unico is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the first in a series of industry-partnered events.

The event, in collaboration with BT will take place on Wednesday 14 January 2015 at the Adastral Park research facility, focusing on the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.

Who should attend:
The PraxisUnico ‘Engaging Industry and Academia….’ event-series is designed to aid the work of University staff working in Business Development, Knowledge Transfer and Corporate Relations roles, where the development of research-based collaborations and consortium between government, academia, and industry is key; as is the identification and generation of successful funding bids, collaborations and research-led activities between academia and external partners.

Why should I attend?

  • Increase your knowledge of the strategic industry priorities in each sector, with further insights on how the priorities are being addressed
  • Hear examples of successful academic-industry collaborations, gain further understanding of the methods of collaboration and the reasons for their success
  • Hear about the strategic priorities of the government research funders active in this sector
  • Expand your network by making new contacts

Events will include a tour/site-visit showcasing the technical facilities of the host industry partner where possible (numbers may be limited, please see event details for further information)

The Venue: Adastral Park, near Ipswich is BT’s main research facility for Information and Communications Technology, which after completion in 1971 has grown to a facility today which has around 4,000 research and development people from both BT and some of its partner companies.

From pioneering work in optical technologies and digital switching through to work in advanced software techniques and protocols, Adastral Park is recognised as one of the leading centres of technical innovation in the communication world.

Adastral Park is also the home of Innovation Martlesham – a joint initiative by BT and Local Authorities to encourage ICT related companies to co-locate, collaborate and innovate at the Park.
