Independent Cambridge - creativity on the Cam

In a regular series of articles on this site, the Cambridge Network joins with Independent Cambridge to celebrate the fantastic range of independent businesses, retailers and artisans we have on our doorstep. Read this week about White House Arts.

Cambridge is the sort of place that however well you think you know it, there always seems to be something interesting and new to discover.

This is how it feels on first finding out about White House Arts. Idyllically located in the Chesterton area of the City on the banks  of the Cam, White House Arts offers arts and crafts courses at its independent arts centre.

Complementing perfectly this beautiful setting is the ethos of creating a social and therapeutic atmosphere in which people can gain expertise and be creatively inspired.

Courses are run during the day, weekends and evenings and cover a wide range of creative disciplines including ceramics, drawing, jewellery making, textiles and mixed media.

White House Arts is a registered charity and all the courses are designed for those age 18 years and over.

All the tutors are artists in their own right with a professional approach to tutoring which, together with small class sizes, ensures all the students gain excellent experience and achieve a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction on completing their finished pieces.

So accomplished do some students become, that they showcase at Open Studios and exhibitions. And with a significant number of students
who return term after term, professionalism combined with a friendly and welcoming approach appear to be the perfect combination.
