ViewRanger, the app for adventure, is being featured in the Motorola Moto 360 Experiences campaign highlighting the new Moto 360 smart watch.

The app, which is used worldwide, combines high quality mapping, active GPS waypoint navigation, trail guides and a sports computer, was one of the first apps to be Android Wear™ enabled. This allows users to view a range of vital data on the new Moto 360 and other smart watches.

Craig Wareham, ViewRanger co-founder, said: “A simple glance at ViewRanger running on Moto 360 provides information on where you are and where you are going without needing to fish your smartphone out of a backpack or pocket.

“Because the Moto 360 is powered by Android Wear users will be able to do a lot of this by voice commands, without even touching their smart watch. It makes an incredibly versatile app even more user-friendly for the outdoor enthusiast.”

Motorola’s social video campaign includes a range of short films highlighting key features of the Moto 360 watch. ViewRanger is one of just a few third party apps worldwide to be highlighted.

ViewRanger data that can be viewed on the Moto 360 and other smart watches includes directions for navigation such as current coordinates, altitude, heading and distance to the next waypoint, point of interest, or to the end of the route. It is also possible to review information about your trip such as the duration, distance travelled, height gained and lost.

ViewRanger runs on iPhone, iPad and on Android phones and tablets. It is free to download and users can also share or publish tracked routes free of charge.
