Big data: Privacy, public interest and the future of healthcare research

Interest in the potential and pitfalls of big data shows little sign of abating, especially here in Cambridge if the packed auditorium for the recent launch of the PHG Foundation’s Life Sciences & Society seminar series is anything to go by.

If you missed it, a flavour of the event, along with comments from delegates is now available on storify.

The next seminar is on 20 January and is open to anyone with an interest in public policy for health and the life sciences. The big data theme continues with Dr Mark Taylor, Senior Law Lecturer and Programme Director for Biotechnology, Law and Ethics at the University of Sheffield, discussing concepts of privacy and the need to build regulatory regimes that balance individual interests with the public good.

The series continues throughout 2015  (programme). All meetings take place at Hughes Hall from 17:30 followed by drinks and an opportunity for further informal discussion.

Register now for 20 January here. Events are free but you must book in advance.
