It may be the newest of the four beautiful Cambridge Wine Merchants’ (CWM) shops in the city, but there’s been a wine shop on this same site for over 50 years.
‘Cherry’ as it is affectionately known, is probably the most ‘locals-orientated’ of the branches, with a strong focus on education too. As well as being a multi award-winning wine retailer, CWM are also a certified Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) course provider – with courses running at Cherry.
At the back of the shop is a charming and cosy seating area which is used for wine tastings, the wine courses and as a venue. With seating for 45 inside plus tables outside, you can hire this lovely space for a particular celebration or simply buy a bottle of wine and sit and enjoy it.
There’s a menu – offering cured meats, cheeses, nuts, breads and dipping oils – all perfect to accompany the hundreds of different choices of great wines.
Events are a regular occurrence with CWM combining forces with local independent foodies such as Inder’s Kitchen, Steak & Honour and Jack’s Gelato to bring a great food/wine combination to the people of Cambridge.
Prices of wines range from £4 to over £1000 and with close links to the makers and producers, the quality of all the products they stock is extremely high. A fine selection of premium artisan gin, vodka, aged rum as well as an impressive range of whisky all add up to make Cherry so much more than just your average local off licence.
